Long wait for nursery operators Posted: 21 May 2011 06:28 AM PDT THE nursery operators in Jalan Sungai Buloh, Subang (known as Green Lane) are concerned by the Petaling District Office's delay in the issuance of Temporary Occupancy Licence (TOL) now that all formalities have been completed and accepted by the authorities. Over the last 10 years, the nursery operators have toiled hard and invested much to make the horticultural centre a success. The nursery operators are looking forward to the Selangor government's much lauded slogan of "Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor" to be implemented in this regard. Lately, there has been talk of a state government agency wanting to take over the "management" of the nurseries and collect rental from the businesses. It will be morally not right for the Selangor government to allow this and deprive the nurserymen of their basic right of individual ownership for the hard work over the years. The Selangor government must put an end to this abuse if its administration is truly based on good business and ethical practices. They should do their best for horticulture and the better way to do this is to ensure that the nursery operators get the individual TOL so that they can develop their business further. Since the nurseries were started 10 years ago the operators had to put up with losses resulting from the laying of additional water pipeline and the upgrading of the Jalan Sungai Buloh- Subang. Due to the upgrading of the road, about 10 nurseries had to make away for the widening and the nursery operators were not given any replacement land. The road upgrading also resulted in seven nurseries being by-passed and this has affected their businesses badly. Now the operators are also faced with the prospect of their land being acquired by authorities for the MRT construction work. The nursery operators are facing a tough time due to poor sales brought about by higher costs and expenses. It will be improper to further burden them with rentals collected by a third party. Posted: 21 May 2011 06:28 AM PDT I LIVE in Bukit Rasah, Seremban just behind the General Hospital. I have been experiencing numerous water cuts for the past two years since I moved here. I have made many reports and sent e-mails to the Syarikat Air Negri Sembilan Sdn Bhd (Sainswater) representative asking for an explanation. It is almost always the same answer which is the water pressure is low in the Gunhill Reservoir. Out of sheer frustration, I made an appointment to meet with a Sainswater representative in April last year and was informed that they did not have the allocation (money) to replace the pumps. Nowadays, the water cuts are more frequent and there is no prior SMS notification. I even sent an e-mail to the Energy, Water and Communications Ministry and did not even receive a reply. Water is a basic necessity and it astounds me that this is happening in the heart of a city in Malaysia. I have to put up overseas visitors in hotels in fear of the water cuts. Can I have an explanation why my family has to undergo this predicament? DR FMV. Seremban Full Feed Generated by Get Full RSS, sponsored by USA Best Price. |
