LANE CLOSURE

Access Road into Jalan Tong Shin from Jalan Pudu will be closed from April 8 to 11 from midnight to 5am to facilitate hoarding installation works in the construction of the Bukit Bintang underground MRT station. The right-most lane at Jalan Cheras, near the Maluri LRT Station will also be closed from April 8 to 26 from 11pm to 5am to facilitate soil investigation. FOUR MASTERS OF CALLIGRAPHY

Catch the joint calligraphy exhibition by four masters — Lok Keng Wah, Yee Sze Fook, Foo Yong Kong and Tan Gian Seng — at Wisma Kebudayaan SGM, Kuala Lumpur. The four friends, sharing their love for the art sparked the idea to hold the exhbition. Over the years, the four have been passionate and dedicated to the exploration, research and creation of calligraphic works which depict not only their own styles, but also express their inner thoughts and spirit. Their aspiration is to inspire thoughts with the wisdom embodied by the written characters; to stir perceptions through the strokes of the characters and to cultivate minds with the aesthetic beauty of calligraphic art. ART EXHIBITION

Six young artists who call themselves the Intuitive Art Group are holding an art exhibition called 'Prologue'. The event showcases the talents of Universiti Teknologi Mara Faculty of Art and Design final year students Azimuddin Abd Manaf, Mohd Hanif Hafiz, Nik Mohd Hazri, Nur Fiqah Mohd Qari, Zaimuddin Aziz, and Zharif Hazwan Badrudin. Demonstrating their boldness by venturing out of their comfort zone, the collection was also included in the Satu Pameran Untuk Semua (One Exhibition for All) catalogue project by Balai Seni Visual Negara. The ongoing exhibition, held at Artemis Art in Publika, Solaris Dutamas, will end on April 30. The gallery is open from Monday to Sunday, between 10am and 8pm. WOMEN IN ART

Immerse yourself in swirls of colours and emotions portrayed in Yau Bee Ling's 'The Women' art exhibition at Wei-Ling Contemporary gallery. The ongoing exhibition at the Gardens Mall will end on April 9. 'The Women' depicts women in groups, alone with their children. Known for her distinctive layered works, Yau is regarded as one of the most powerful contemporary painters in Malaysia today. This exhibition marks her second solo showing in a 15-year career, after her first solo, 'Portraits of Paradox' in 2008. With the production of this second exhibition, Yau discovers, how she has evolved as an individual, through different aspirations, relationships and inner manifestations of her role as a woman. TALK ON TEXTILES

Collectors of South-East Asian textiles will have the chance to learn more about the significance and symbolism of such traditional cloths in a changing world. Kuala Lumpur-based French collector Marie Tseng will talk about 'Sumba Ikat: New Trends' in a lecture today at 4pm, at the National Textile Museum in Kuala Lumpur organised by the South-East Asian Ceramic Society (SEAC), West Malaysia Chapter. In her lecture, Tseng will explain how South-East Asia produces some of the most exquisite textiles in the world, among which are ikat ("tie" or "knot"). Tseng will also explain the production techniques of ikat and examine how globalisation has affected its production, how the people in Sumba have responded to new challenges and the future of the weaving tradition of Sumba. MINI SONGKRAN FEST

Artist Zuzila Zain is having a special art exhibition which features her new series and glassworks.
