STAMP FAIR

THE Philatelic Society of Malaysia is organising a Stamp Fair on Sept 15 and 16 at the PJ Community Library, Jalan Selangor, Seksyen 3, PJ from 9.30am to 5.30pm. Philatelic exhibits including first day covers will be on display. Stamp dealers with a wide range of Malaysia/Malaya, foreign and thematic stamps will also participate in the event. TALK ON DYSLEXIA

Life Enrichment Centre will be holding a talk on dyslexia on Sept 15 at Block D-3-3A, Oasis Ara Damansara, Ara Damansara, Petaling Jaya, from 10.30am to 12pm. CHARITY DINNER

CEREBRAL PALSY

The National Council of Spastic Children's Associations in Malaysia, an umbrella body concerned with the care and welfare of children with Cerebral Palsy, will be having its 17th National Seminar on Cerebral Palsy on Sept 22 and 23 at Crystal Crown Hotel, PJ. Smashing time for media

MCA emerged as the Division One champions in the Datuk Theng Book Cup Malaysia Media Badminton Tournament at the Sport Challenger Badminton Hall in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur, recently.

In the final, MCA defeated 1Titan 3-1 to pocket RM2,888, a challenge trophy, badminton racquets, prizes and medals while 1Titan received RM1,888, badminton racquets, medals and prizes.

The Star finished third after edging out Sin Chew 3-2 in a keenly contested battle. They received RM1,288.

Media Prima took honours in the Division Two by edging out 8TV 3-2 in the final. For their effort Media Prima earned RM688 while 8TV received RM488.

Astro beat Kepong 3-1 to finish third and take home RM388.

Organising chairman Datuk Theng Book said the teams had shown tremendous progress since last year.

"Most of the teams had trained hard to participate in this tournament.

"It was a friendly environment. The players were mingling with each other,'' said Theng.

Theng played a match with Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Minister Datuk Chua Tee Yong who was the guest of honour at the opening ceremony.

Cheerleaders from SMK Catholic added excitement to the championships with an energetic performance.
