Rapper Ja Rule due to go to prison in NYC gun case Posted: 07 Jun 2011 10:48 PM PDT NEW YORK (AP): Rapper Ja Rule is set to go to prison almost four years after he was charged with having a loaded gun in his luxury sports car as he left a New York City concert. The platinum-selling rapper-actor is to be sentenced Wednesday to two years behind bars. He pleaded guilty in December to attempted criminal weapon possession. He said on the TV show "Good Day New York" Monday that "laws are laws," and he's been trying to prepare himself mentally for prison. Ja Rule was nominated for a 2002 best rap album Grammy Award for "Pain is Love." His movie credits include 2001's "The Fast and the Furious" and 2003's "Scary Movie 3." The song earned second place in the World Music category of the International Songwriting Competition (ISC) 2011, beating 15,000 entries from 115 countries, losing out only to Kenyan George Mutinda Wambua's winning song Simama. Katakanlah features Amirah's observation on the desecration of houses of worship in the Klang Valley early last year.
