New York's art installation is all heart Posted: 09 Jan 2014 07:45 PM PST The sculpture is done in celebration of next month's Valentine's Day. With just over one month to go until Valentine's Day, New York is getting in the mood with a feel-good architectural sculpture. "Match-Maker" is a heart-shaped structure set to be unveiled in the city after winning the sixth edition of the annual Times Square Valentine Heart Design competition. The work will be installed in Times Square on Feb 7, where it will remain on view until March. Designed by Brooklyn-based studio Young Projects in collaboration with fabricator Kammetal, the installation will feature 12 points at which visitors should stand depending on their zodiac sign. The interactive structure will be made up of interwoven periscopes offering a visual of each sign's four best-matched astrological romantic partners. "I can tell you from personal experience, there is such a thing as love at first sight!" said Bryan Young, principal of Young Projects. "In an era of digital communication, our design takes a decidedly analogue approach to viscerally connect strangers and reaffirm compatibility between old partners." — AFP Relaxnews |
