Senior citizens said to have had swinging time with transvestites Posted: 17 Jan 2014 08:00 AM PST A GROUP of senior citizens in Kangar apparently had a swinging time dancing the joget on Tuesday morning, Harian Metro reported. The joget fest, which started at around 1am, also saw 10 to 15 transvestites taking part in the dance, said a villager who only wanted to be known as Amir. "The transvestites wore sexy clothes. They were specially brought in from Kedah. They were also accompanied by five or six traditional musicians," he claimed. Amir said the transvestites behaved like guests relation officers to some 20 men who were in their 60s, alleging that they were holding hands as they danced. He said some women, known to be grandmothers, also danced the night away. Perlis Islamic Religious Department director Mohamad Sokri Hussin said an investigation would be carried out on the joget fest. "We will examine video footage and photographs taken by the villagers before considering further action on those concerned including the transvestites," he said. > Harian Metro also reported that a family of five discovered a beached baby whale at Kampung Kuala Tatau, Bintulu on Thursday morning. Masuhut Ayub, 55, said they tried to push the whale back into the sea but their attempt was futile as it was low tide at that time. Furthermore, there was no one else on the beach to help. Afraid that the mammal would die before high tide, they splashed sea water on it every now and then. "Our four-hour wait ended when high tide came and the baby whale managed to swim away," he said. He believed that the baby whale might have been separated from its mother during a storm. ● Found in Translation is compiled from the vernacular newspapers (Bahasa Malaysia, Chinese and Tamil dailies).
