Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr will perform at the Grammy awards show in Los Angeles on Jan 26 as the Americans pay tribute to the Fab Four's landing on their shores in 1964. Let's not forget the excitement at the record stores here with Universal Music Malaysia releasing the much-awaited The Beatles' The US Albums box set tomorrow. This box set celebrates the 50th anniversary of The Beatles legendary first trip to the United States, which marked the true beginning of rock 'n' roll's British Invasion. Talk about a trip abroad that changed the pop culture landscape forever. Of course, the Fab Four had the music to back up the hype and hysteria Stateside. The Beatles' The US Albums box set soundtracks The Beatles' great adventure there. The box features 13 CDs; titles released by Capitol Records in the 1960s that, for the most part, were quite different from their British counterparts (new titles, alternate track listing, occasional mix differences). This collection spans 1964's Meet the Beatles! to 1970's Hey Jude. Each album is in mono and stereo. Five of the albums have never been released on CD before. All albums feature a faithful reproduction of the artwork and packaging of the original vinyl albums (paper sleeves, paper inner sleeves). A 64-page booklet accompanies the box set, plus numerous photographs and memorabilia images. In addition, every album will be available as a stand-alone CD. Universal Music Malaysia is also releasing the official Abbey Road T-shirt series (from the Bravado range) as an additional attraction for Fab Four fans. The good news is Universal Music Malaysia has come through with a Fab Four treat for Star2 readers.
