Tweaked to be better

Minor tweaks in P. Ramlee The Musical staged in Kuching.

NOW in its fourth run, P. Ramlee The Musical, which will be staged at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching in Sarawak, sees minor tweaks in script and set design from its 2007 and 2008 runs in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.

Produced by Datin Seri Tiara Jacquelina's Enfiniti Vision Media and specially commissioned by the government of Sarawak, this musical is directed by Pat Ibrahim and Melissa Saila.

P. Ramlee's first wife, Junaidah, is played by Nadia Aqilah Baiduri, while Elly Mazlein takes on Saloma, his third wife. Tiara makes an appearance as Norizan, his second wife.

Tiara says she's always been taken with Norizan's part in the musical.

"Her scenes are the ones I've always looked forward to the most. She's a strong character, very different from all the other characters I've played before," Tiara says.

Sharing that she is really excited to bring this musical out of Kuala Lumpur "to share this wonderful story with those who could not catch our previous productions," Tiara adds, "P. Ramlee is one of our cultural legacies and the best way I can think of preserving that memory of him is in a musical, where he is glorified and where we can tell his story over and over again."

P. Ramlee The Musical is doing just that.
