KOTA KINABALU: Folks working and residing at the Lintas Plaza and Lintas Square vicinity, about a 10-minute drive from Kota Kinabalu city, need not worry too much on crime occurrences in the area once a police beat base is built.

Sabah Deputy Police Commissioner Senior Assistant Commissioner Datuk Tan Kok Liang said this following a meet-the-people session in the area on Tuesday.

He found that there were many break-ins in office and property blocks.

"Although the crime index have reduced gradually over the years, the police will not stop efforts in fighting crime but will continue to prevent them from happening," he said.

"So for this area, a police beat base will be built once a suitable location is decided," he said.

Tan said there would be more police personnel patrolling the area and cooperation with the existing Lintas Plaza management's security personnel will also be established.

"Discussions are underway to bring about more police personnel here," he said.
