Lanchang assemblyman Datuk Mohd Sharkar Shamsuddin said he had received complaints that the treatment plant in Kampung Mempateh was channelling water with an unpleasant odour and sediments. "I am disappointed as the treatment plant was supposed to have been upgraded recently. "By right, it should not happen and I want to know the reason," he said after making an impromptu inspection at the plant. Mohd Sharkar, who is also the state Culture and Tourism Committee chairman, said PAIP should take action against its staff if proven negligence was involved. He said PAIP should ensure no such incident recur in the future as it reflected bad on its management and the state government. "PAIP must provide nothing but the best in terms of services, clean and uninterrupted supply to the people. "Furthermore, huge allocations have been provided by the state government to upgrade the treatment plant," he said. Mohd Sharkar said many residents in Felda Bukit Damar and Felda Lakum had brought up the matter to his attention, resulting in him making a surprise inspection. He said initial report indicated that the technology used in the treatment plant was not suitable and PAIP should hold an urgent meeting with its consultant to sort out the matter. "In addition, I was also told that the waste water from the treatment plant has damaged agriculture produce of residents. "These issues must be resolved promptly to minimise inconvenience to the people," he said, adding that PAIP must give equal attention to water supply problems affecting rural settlements instead of focussing only on urban and high capacity areas. |

"We have approached the "Skudai Talk" Facebook page owner, who relates local issues via Facebook, to cooperate with us and post these complaints online for people to read," said Teoh. He said that the online postings could also make the locals aware of the inefficiency of the Opposition and serve as evidence of what they have done for the community.
