Darul Affiah to face the music after no show against Saridee

Posted: 03 May 2013 04:26 AM PDT

DARUL AFFIAH, one of the seasoned teams in the Football Association of Selangor league, are going through a dismal season.

Last year's Premier Division champions were unable to assemble a team against Saridee for their Group A match in the Super Division at the SUK ground in Shah Alam recently.

The players from Saridee and match officials, as required by the competition rules, waited for 15 minutes. As there were only four players from Darul Affiah present, the match was called off and, as per the rules, Saridee were awarded the match with a 3-0 score.

Darul Affiah will also have to face the competition committee for their absence. A competition committee member said it was an unfortunate incident.

"Darul Affiah have a good reputation in the Football Association of Selangor league. But due to some internal problems, they were unable to get their players together for the match against Saridee. We hope to see them back at their best soon," said the member.

In other Group A matches, Subang Jaya Municipal Council and PKNS recorded convincing wins against their respective opponents. Subang Jaya Municipal Council scored a 5-0 win over Smartfocus at the Subang Jaya Municipal Council Sports Complex while PKNS defeated Proton 4-0 at the PKNS ground in Kelana Jaya.

Following the win, Subang Jaya Muncipal Council, with one match in hand, have become the first team to qualify for the semi-finals. They have 24 points from eight matches. Their remaining match is against Emkay-NPNG. Emkay-NPNG, the defending champions, are second in the 10-team table with 18 points from six wins.

PKNS, who have a match against Emkay-NPNG, are third on 16 points from five wins, a draw and two defeats.

Belia Selangor moved to the top of the table in Group B after a 3-0 win over Malaysia Airlines. Belia Selangor, who are preparing for the National Under-19 football competition in June, have 14 points from four wins and two draws. Port Rangers, who have also played six matches, are second on 14 points as well.

Hong Chin , who edged Anggerik 2-1 at the Proton ground in Shah Alam, are also in the race for a semi-final berth. They have 13 points from six matches.

In the Premier Division, Shah Alam City Council booked their quarter-final berth when they defeated Putra Perwira 3-0 in a Group B match. With the win, Shah Alam City Council have completed their group fixtures and finished at the top of the eight-team table with 19 points from six wins and a draw.

In Division One, Pos Selangor suffered a setback to their quarter-final hopes when they went down 4-0 to Rovers in a Group D match.

Besides Pos Selangor and Rovers, Sukaramai is also in the race for a quarter-final berth. All three have a match in hand. Sukaramai are leading the table with 22 points while Rovers and Pos Selangor have 21 and 19 points respectively.

Making a big move in the name of dance

Posted: 03 May 2013 04:26 AM PDT

A brand new club night makes its debut tonight with Further by Soundsgood Productions. Further is aimed at dance music fans who are looking to delve further into the realms of electronic dance music.

For it's debut offering, Further presents Berlin house stalwart Alex Niggemann at one of the newer establishments in Bukit Bintang, The Establishment on Jalan Mesui, near Changkat Bukit Bintang.

Niggemann is one of an exciting new run of artists to arrive on Steve Bug's established Poker Flat Recordings.

His critically acclaimed debut, Paranoid Funk, marks an important "next chapter" in his development.

The conρdent, retro-meets-nu-school grooves of Niggemann's 11-track album ρt perfectly with the man behind the beats — a classically trained pianist who gave up the ivory keys for a more technological dream.

In his own words Niggemann set out to "create an album which is different to typical club or listening albums… where songs ρt together without being too similar."

The eclectic 4/4 album is packed with groovy, feel-good house that still offers more hypnotic and darker moments along the way, with a mixture of dance floor weapons and more introspective home toe-tappers.

Born in Dusseldorf in the mid-1980s, his development reflects a fairly traditional approach to becoming a DJ.

In the 1990s, his impulsiveness led him to discover that playing classical piano was limiting. When he was fifteen, his older brother took him to a techno party, marking a turning point for the young musician, and pointing the way in a new direction.

Deciding to make a name for himself as a producer, he started working on techno tracks and soon turned to house.

After graduating high school, he headed for Europe's epi-center of electronic music — Berlin, where he studied audio engineering to hone his skills.

Careful networking soon led to a string of gigs all over Germany. From this point, he performed exclusively under his own name.

After finishing his degree in 2007, Alex started focusing more on his music career, which has taken him to many different part of the world.

It is hard to define Niggemann as he's reputed not to be interested in sub-genres, producing and playing whatever suits him at that moment.

Head on down to The Establishment, 31, Jalan Mesui, off Jalan Nagasari, KL, for a night of quality dance music. Admission (with one drink): RM25. For enquiries call 03-2110 1654 or e-mail office@theestablishmentkl.com
