Residents still denied entry to club premises Posted: 22 Mar 2013 04:56 AM PDT WE REFER to a StarMetro story on the Ulu Klang Recreational Club (UKRC) published on March 2 and would like to highlight two inaccuracies in the article. The article stated that the automated barrier gate and guardhouse at the entrance of the club premises and football field at Kuala Ampang had been torn down. This is not true as the automated barrier gate and guardhouse had been there since Feb 18 and private guards were stationed daily at the guardhouse from 4pm to 8pm. However, between Feb 10 and 18, we did notice that the wooden plank screwed to the base motor stand at the barrier gate was temporarily removed, only to be reattached several days later. As far as the residents are concerned, the automatic barrier gate and guardhouse were illegally constructed on an open space under the purview of the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) for public access. The article also stated there were also complaints by residents that they were denied entry into the UKRC grounds and that the matter had been resolved, We would like to point out that the matter is still not resolved and those without permission from UKRC are still denied entry to the open field. U-turn near MidValley causing congestion Posted: 22 Mar 2013 04:55 AM PDT I TRAVEL to work using Jalan Kelang Lama on a daily basis. From the moment I leave the Overseas Union Garden junction, I would be caught in a jam that starts from the Pearl Point Hotel, or sometimes Jalan Puchong, all the way to Mid Valley. The travelling time from Pearl Point Hotel to MidValley is only about five minutes if the road is clear but I end up having to spend at least 30 minutes to reach my destination. I do not understand why the authorities have not taken any action to solve the massive jams along Jalan Kelang Lama. Every morning, there are hundreds or even thousands of motorists who need to sacrifice their time just to give way to a small group of people who make a U-turn and come out from the junction near Mid Valley from the Seremban highway. From my past observations, I realised that there are only two main points that cause the massive jam, which are the U-turn in front of the Shell petrol station and Sekolah Antarabangsa Vikas and the junction to Mid Valley from the Seremban highway. My recommendation is to block the U-turn and the junction turning to MidValley from the Seremban highway during the morning peak hours from 7am to 9.30am. Those motorists who want to make a U-turn to turn to Mid Valley from the Seremban highway can travel to the Taman Desa junction to make a U-turn which is less than a minute from the original U-turn and exit point. I believe the above action will reduce the traffic jams tremendously and save many motorists a lot of precious time. I really hope the authorities will look into my proposal.
