Posted: 04 Nov 2012 03:36 PM PST

THERE'S a reason to celebrate on Dec 1 as the hit K-pop ballad group 2AM will be in Kuala Lumpur for a concert. Organised by IME & Mega Ultimate, 2AM Live In Malaysia 2012 will be staged at Dewan Wawasan, Menara PGRM, Cheras.

The group comprises Jo Kwon, Jinwoon, Seulong, and Changmin. Originally from the principal all-boy group, One Day, that includes 2PM and 2AM, the latter branched out as a ballad group.

2AM made its debut performance on July 11, 2008, and released its debut single The Song on July 21 the same year. The song brought the group to the next level and This Song became one of the love anthems of the year, topping music charts and melting the hearts of Koreans.

After This Song, 2AM continues to release albums and further entrench its popularity with mega hits such as Even If I Die I Can't Let Go, You Wouldn't Answer My Calls and I Wonder If You Hurt like Me.

While a majority of boy bands are doing dance or live band formats, 2AM continues to focus on its distinguished and versatile range of vocals that established it as the K-pop ballad boy group to die for.

The boys promised that their debut concert in Malaysia will be entertaining.

More of Psy

PSY might be one of the biggest international pop stars today but he's proven that there is no music project too small for him.

Recently, Psy did a cameo appearance in the music video of sexy K-pop dancing queen HyunA called Ice Cream, which has been sweeping the K-pop charts since its release on Oct 22.

If HyunA looks familiar, it's because you've seen her dancing along with her good friend Psy on the train in Gangnam Style. Talk about returning favours!

HyunA is in no way a newbie, having started out with the Wonder Girls before signing with Cube Entertainment as a member of its girl group 4Minute and as a solo singer. The 20-year-old loves to mesh hip-hop and pop in her music, and Ice Cream, the lead single from her new solo EP Melting, is no different. Melting was made available on iTunes on Oct 31.

HyunA reached notoriety last year with her racy Bubble Pop video and a kissing stunt with her Trouble Maker duet partner Hyunseung (from boy band Beast) at the 2011 Mnet Asian Music Awards.

As the video shows, HyunA has a lot of chemistry with Psy, and both have a cheekiness that complements each other.

The question is: Will she be able to follow in Psy's footsteps to the top of the charts?

Only time will tell.

Gangnam Style remake

POPULAR web cartoon Fashion King that revolves around the life of fashion leaders will be adapted into a TV series next February.

According to production firm Achieve Group DN, Fashion King which was first published online on May 5 last year by cartoonist Keean84, will be remade as a drama titled Gangnam Style.

The company changed the title of the remake to distinguish it from SBS' Fashion King, starring Yoo A-in and Shin Se-gyeong, which the officials say has no reference to the original comic strip.

"We haven't finalised the casting yet," an official said.

Into its 66th episode, the comic is still being published on South Korea's portal Naver.

With its growing popularity, readers have been posting their own casting versions on blogs that include model-turned-actor Ryoo Seung-bum and singer-actor Jang Keun-suk. – Reuters

Casting musical spell

K-POP idols the likes of TVXQ!'s U-Know Yunho (pic), MBLAQ's G.O and Seungho, Cho Shin-sung's Sungje, ZE:A's Kevin and F.T. Island's Minhwan will light up Osaka's Shingabuki Theatre in Japan from Nov 10 to Dec 2 in musical Gwanghwamun Younga.

The love story will open next at Tokyo's Meiji Theatre on New Year's Day next year for its one-month run, then to China and the United States.

Inspired by late songwriter Lee Young-hun's hit numbers, the show set in the 1980s in Seoul tells of a love triangle involving Sang-hoon (U-Know Yunho), Hyun-woo (G.O., Seungho and Sungje) and Yeo-joo (songstress Lisa).

With 70% of seats sold in South Korea on its opening day, the musical has been garnering attention due to its melody and modern stage design.

Yang Yo-seop and Sohn Dong-woon (of Beast) Sung-kyu and Woo-hyun (of Infinite) have starred in the musical when it was staged last year and early this year. – Reuters

HA Jung-woo has confirmed his role as a news anchor in director Kim Byeong-woo's new action flick The Terror which will begin filming in January.

With his professional spirit, he reports the incident real-time on one of the bridges crossing the centre of Seoul. Korean press reported that Ha will be taking on more film projects, including director Yoon Jong-bin's The Islands and Pang Eun-jin's The Road Home.

The prolific 35-year-old actor rose to stardom as one of the hottest male stars in the Korean film scene after scoring two box office hits early this year.

His Nameless Gangster: Rules Of The Time and Love Fiction were two of the most popular home grown movies this year.
