Back in black

IT'S back to vinyl for The Beatles this month. In conjuction with the arrival of The Beatles In Stereo Vinyl Box in Malaysia, Warner Music Malaysia will be holding a special launch at Rock Corner, The Curve, Mutiara Damansara, Petaling Jaya in Selangor on Nov 17.

The event starts at 2pm where you can purchase the whopper of a box set and also stand a chance to take home a "The Beatles Vinyl" promo T-shirt (limited quantities available, be early).

Manufactured on 180g, audiophile quality vinyl with replicated artwork, the 14 Fab Four albums return to their original glory with details including the poster in The Beatles (The White Album), the Sgt Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band's cut-outs, and special inner bags for some of the titles.

The albums include The Beatles' 12 original British albums, first released between 1963 and 1970, the US-originated Magical Mystery Tour, now part of the group's core catalogue, and Past Masters, Volumes One & Two, first released individually in 1988, featuring non-album A-sides and B-sides, EP tracks and rarities.

The 16-LP mega package, which retails at RM1,970, will be accompanied by a 252-page hardbound book in a lavish boxed edition (limited quantities worldwide).

Each album will also be available individually (RM82.20 for a single LP).

Super fans will also stand a chance to win mystery gifts at the upcoming launch day at Rock Corner, The Curve. We hear that recently reissued Magical Mystery Tour box set will be given out to the Fab Four fan with the most unique stash of Beatles collectibles and paraphernalia. Posters and CDs will also be part of the prizes on the day for other lucky contestants.

Representatives from Warner Music Malaysia and Rock Corner will judge The Beatles Super Fan contest.

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have broken up, reports say

LOS ANGELES: Pop star Justin Bieber and his girlfriend, Selena Gomez, a Disney actress and singer, have broken up, ending a relationship that made them one of Hollywood's most high-profile young couples, media reports said.

Bieber, 18, and Gomez, 20, disclosed their relationship in February 2011 when they appeared together at an Oscar night party after months of rumors of their dating. E! Online late on Friday was the first to report the split, with other media outlets including US Weekly and People also saying the relationship was over.

The reports cited unnamed sources close to the couple.

Representatives for Bieber and Gomez did not returns calls or emails on Saturday. Bieber has released two No. 1 albums in just over a year - the holiday-themed "Under the Mistletoe" and his latest, "Believe."

In September, he topped Billboard's "21 Under 21" list of top young musical acts. It was his second year in a row with the title.

Gomez rose to fame as a teenager in the Walt Disney Co television series "Wizards of Waverly Place" and has enjoyed success as a pop singer.-Reuters
