Championships incorporates a unique concept

Posted: 26 Oct 2012 06:57 AM PDT

THE five-member Malaysian team for the World Golfers Championships World Final was named after the National Finals of the Perodua World Golfers championships at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club recently.

The five — Nordin Yahya, Pakhruddin Abdul Majid, Mohd Anuar Jaladuddin, Datuk Zainal Abidin Ujud and Chiang Sooi Yee — will be playing in the World Final in Durban, South Africa this weekend.

Participants from 42 countries will tee off in the 72 hole championship at Kwazuli- Natal at four renowned top golf courses — the Cotwold Downs Golf Course, Durban Country Club, Prince's Grant Golf Estate and Umhlali Country Club.

The five were among the 45 qualifiers from the nine qualifying rounds. They were champions in their respective handicap categories.

World Golfers Championship International chairman Datuk Nils Nordh said the competition concept was unique.

"The amateur golfer gets to play a tournament under 'professional like' circumstances but also gets to meet fellow golf lovers from all over the world and create new business opportunities,'' said Nils.
