African students create a ruckus in Mantin Posted: 05 Dec 2011 03:11 PM PST IMMIGRATION officers, who had detained several African students who had flouted regulations, faced a standoff with other students in Mantin, Berita Harian reported. It said the other Africans, who were unhappy over the detention of their coursemates, started verbally abusing the Immigration officers at about 4.30am. State enforcement chief Abdul Kadir Hussin said the students always created problems whenever operations were being carried out. He said two students had been detained for obstructing civil servants from carrying out their duties while 46 others, most of them Africans, were detained in the seven-hour operation for having expired student passes, overstaying and having forged passports. Abdul Kadir said a 24-year-old woman who was caught for "close proximity" with an African in an apartment unit had been handed over to the Negri Sembilan Islamic Religious Affairs Department. > Sinar Harian reported that a young girl was molested while sleeping at her home in Jertih last Wednesday. Karpal: Datukships put DAP in ‘awkward spot’ Posted: 05 Dec 2011 03:11 PM PST DAP national chairman Karpal Singh regrets that two party leaders had accepted the Datukship awards bestowed on them by their respective Rulers, reported Nanyang Siang Pau. He said Perak DAP chairman Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham and Selangor Assembly Speaker Datuk Teng Chang Khim's acceptance of the award had put the party in an "awkward spot". "Their acceptance was not in line with the party's stand and principle as only party members who had retired or were not politically active are allowed to accept titles," he said. Ngeh and Teng were conferred titles in 2008 and 2010 respectively. Asked if their refusal would be perceived as an insult to the Rulers, Karpal said it was the party's stand and therefore, would not be deemed an insult. > Sin Chew Daily reported that teenage girls nowadays were ready to "sell their bodies" for a fee. Among contents posted by the girls on forums and Facebook were charges for each session, their vital statistics and places where their services could be performed. They were mostly students who cited money as the reason for their willingness to become "social escorts". One of them, a 19-year-old from Ipoh, needed the money to buy branded items. Another girl, who calls herself "little fish", said being a "social escort" was her part-time job as she was still a college student. Their actions have won the admiration of 2,500 forum members, with some male members even sharing their experiences after their trysts with the girls. > The daily also reported that five Taiwanese tourists claimed that they lost RM20,000 to a bogus cop while shopping in Petaling Street. One, known as Lim, said the man who looked like a West Asian, stopped them at the popular shopping area. He said at first, they ignored the man in plainclothes, although the suspect had flashed a "police identification card". "But when he whipped out a gun, we became fearful and allowed him to conduct a body search. "After taking all our money, he ran to a car parked nearby and fled," he told Taiwan media. Lim only learnt about a syndicate in Malaysia which targeted foreign tourists after returning to Taiwan.
