Medical Centre to provide orthopaedic care

Posted: 15 Dec 2011 05:04 PM PST

MUAR: The Mahkota Medical Centre in Malacca has opened an orthopaedic bone and joint centre here to provide orthopaedic care to patients in northern Johor.

The centre, located at the newly built Taj Clinic complex along Jalan Sulaiman in the town here, will be manned by three orthopaedic and trauma surgeons.

Its spokesman Dr S. Thirukumaran said besides providing orthopaedic care, the Mahkota Medical Centre also aimed at increasing medical and health services to people in Johor.

"There is an increasing demand for orthopaedic care in northern Johor but there is no existing private orthopaedic clinic around here.

"So, working with a well-known general practitioner Dr Tajudin Abdul Majid, we decided to set up an orthopaedic bone centre at his complex," he said.

Dr Thirukumaran said the two other orthopaedic surgeons who would take turn to be stationed in the Muar centre are Dr P. Premathevan and Dr S. Jeyaratnam.

He said they specialised in minimal invasive surgery, limb lengthening, bone fitting surgery, bone regeneration, joint and replacement, including shoulder reconstruction.

He said they also carry out bone correction surgery, joint deformities and bone injuries related with sport activities.

"We also plan to open another similar bone and joint centre in Segamat next year," he said.

In relation to the matter, Dr Tajudin said he was happy to work with the Mahkota Medical Centre which opened a bone and joint service centre at his clinic complex.

To a question, he said he decided to move out from his old clinic along Jalan Abdullah in the town because of parking problems as the road was always busy.

"I plan to rent out the old clinic, which is a shop house, soon," said Dr Tajudin, whose wife Najima Mohideen, sons Tajul Ariffin and Tajmul Rizwan and their wives are all medical doctors.
