Khairy defends RM10mil condo purchase by minister's firm Posted: 11 Nov 2011 05:51 AM PST PETALING JAYA: Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has come to the defence of Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil over the purchase of a RM10mil luxury condominium in Bangsar. He stressed that the PKR machinery had gone into overdrive to paint a picture of power abuse surrounding the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC). PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution claimed on Thursday that the condo in One Menerung was listed under the NFC, a project managed by the Women, Family and Community Development Minister's family. Khairy, who is Rembau MP, said the condo was bought for investment as the minister's family firm, National Meat and Livestocks Corporation (NMLC), found itself with surplus funds when the government could not develop satellite cattle farms. It decided on real estate investment as a means to put the excess liquidity to work, said Khairy. "The management made a decision that the best return on investment would have been from real estate," he said. The Auditor-General's Report 2010 criticised the NFC, pointing out that it was now "in a mess". Full content generated by Get Full RSS. |
