KOTA KINABALU: Sabah celebrated World Animal Day with a two-day fun-filled carnival at the Lok Kawi Wildlife Park recently.

Organised by the Sabah Wildlife Department, the event was held at the park to raise awareness on wildlife conservation and was attended by more than 3,000 people.

"Sabah is blessed with amazing wildlife and we want to expose the public to wildlife and develop their interest in conservation issues," said state Wildlife Department director Dr Laurentius Ambu.

"A good way to do this is to have them come down to the Wildlife Park with their family and friends."

Among the activities were a photography competition, lucky draws, face painting, dedication of songs and various games for children.

"The Sabah Wildlife Department and other government departments will also be having their own exhibitions at the Wildlife Park to inform and expose the public to issues and challenges surrounding our wildlife," said Laurentius.
