Special breaking fast treat for orphans

MALACCA: A Naturopathic Centre here had treated some orphans from the Tun Abdul Aziz Boys Home in Durian Daun at a breaking fast session here.

The event was held at the centre's premise where the orphans were given a hearty meal.

One of the guests, Mohd Zulhelmi Zulkifli, 14, said he was grateful with the organiser's generosity.

After the meals, the boys received duit raya handed out from the host.

The centre's director Shamsunnisa Ishak said the buka puasa event was held annually for the orphans and underprivileged children.

Free house-to-house bulky trash disposal service

JOHOR BARU: The public can now dispose their unwanted bulky trash as the Southern Waste Management Sdn Bhd (SWM) will be collecting them for free this Hari Raya.

The SWM head of corporate communications department Shahrul Amir A.Rahim said that the service would cover areas under the Johor Baru Central Municipal Council (MPJBT) and the Johor Baru City Council (MBJB) jurisdiction.

"We will collect the bulky trash by going house-to-house to ensure thorough collection," he said.

He also said that during the festive season the amount of garbage would double up.

"To avoid unnecessary accumulation of rubbish in residential and commercial areas we have prepared the service and the collection recently.

"Besides that the roll-on-roll-off (RORO) bins will be placed temporarily at areas with higher concentration of Muslims on Aug 30 and Aug 31," he said.

The areas under MBJB would be Kampung Senibong, Taman Bukit Mutiara, Taman Delima, Kampung Mohd Amin, Kampung Dato' Sulaiman Menteri, Taman Sri Amar, Taman Sri Bahagia, Kampung Pasir, and the town areas.

Areas under the MPJBT jurisdiction would be Taman Perling, Bandar Seri Alam, Taman Bukit Indah, Taman Nusa Perintis, Taman Mutiara, Taman Bukit Tiram, Kampung Melayu.
