"We are also inspecting the drivers through the Kejara system where drivers who have been blacklisted or yet to pay their summons are also not allowed to drive," he said. Dualim saves restaurant from fire Posted: 22 Aug 2011 03:50 PM PDT KOTA KINABALU: Quick thinking by a power utility staff had probably saved a restaurant where he was buying food for breaking of fast from being gutted at Gaya Street here. The good samaritan, Dualim Anjam, a staff with the Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB), was busy picking buka puasa delicacies when an explosion occurred in the kitchen with fire spreading in the restaurant. The SESB staff who is trained in fire emergency procedures told everyone to calmly exit the restaurant while he ran to the next shop to get a fire extinguisher. Dualim extinguished the fire within 30 minutes with some help from several people at the scene. "The fire spread so quickly, I had to use a second fire extinguisher to put out the flames," he said. The first thought that came to mind, he added, were the people living within the block of shoplots in the busy Gaya Street. In recognition of his bravery and leadership, the SESB management represented by senior general manager (asset management) Ir. Abd Razak Sallim presented a certificate and letter of appreciation to Dualim. |
