Penang ACSU take honours in Goodwill Games

Posted: 22 Jun 2011 06:41 AM PDT

THE Penang Anglo Chinese School Union (ACSU) became the champions of the Goodwill Games in Kuala Lumpur recently.

In the annual games, ACSU edged The Kuala Lumpur Methodist Afternoon School Old Boys Association (Masoba).

In tennis, played at the PJ Club, both teams decided to call off the encounter, when the score was tied at 2-2, because of the blistering heat.

In carrom, Masoba upstaged ACSU 5-0 but latter replied with vengeance in table tennis winning 5-0.

The ACSU team also triumphed in snooker and darts with identical 3-1 wins.

However, Masoba were winners in badminton beating ACSU 3-2.

The Goodwill Games, the 46th in the series, culminated with dinner hosted by Masoba in Seri Petaling.

The 47th Goodwill Games will be hosted by the ACSU. The ACSU contingent leader K. Korisatan said the games would be held in Medan, Indonesia next year.

The Masoba contingent leader Hor Yee said there was a need to review the format for the Goodwill Games.

"Most of the Masoba team members are getting old. Many of them are either in the early 70s or late 60. So the current situation has to be changed,'' said Hor Yee.
